Ahem - well the Kong Filler cans are now empty!!!

What do you guys put in your Kongs?

Would cream cheese be good/ok? (Cheaper than the Kong filler!!

cream cheese, tuna, sandwich paste..........freeze first it last
them ages.

[/ QUOTE ]Ohh Tuna!! - Erm what fill them then freeze them then give them? LOL!!

Hmm and Tuna - is the one in Brine OK? (I know one has TOO much salt)

I put normal dried food in them and pack it so tight that the food doesn't come out with any ease whatsoever. However Brego has learnt that if you throw it at the wall food gradually comes out.

Peanut butter round the inside but not a lot so that they have to pin them and lick it to get it out.

The freezing is the best idea, but make sure it isn't something that will leak in case you forget about it lol

Ki just eats the whole kong!!! I have yet to find a toy that he doesn't destroy in minutes
mad.gif

Brine is salted water so maybe best to go for a sunflower oil tuna.

ok then

I don't often make stuff - just shove things in them:

Mashed potato and raw lamb mince (I put potato each end and mince in the middle)

I made one with butternut squah and lamb mince too...

Sweet potato also good.

Cook some rice - stir some grated cheese through it and pack it tightly into the kong - seal ends with some cheap chicken liver pate (make sure no onion in ingredients).

Not tried sardines - but reckon they be good - mixed with mash or rice maybe?

Cheese & Garlic porridge - just make porridge with water - stir in cheese and garlic. leave to cool a bit - pack into kong (garlic good for fighting off fleas...) good if you chill it first.

also - put a bit of honey in kong so it coats the inside - then put some dog biscuits or bits of meat inside - packtightly - seal with cream cheese/ pate or peanut butter..

am still thinking of others

Loki loves sardines...

forgot to say - I sometimes add a bit of grated raw carrot in too - they seem to love carrot.

am sure you will think of more fillings!

I am a sad kong obsessive LOL!

[/ QUOTE ]LMAO!!

I went home at lunch and made, mashed banana, peanut butter, chicken and carrot!!! LMAO!!! What a combo - Finny LOVED it, Tinks turned his nose up - wonder if he 'tried' it after I left!!!

I tend to use ours as a fetch toy, and sometimes she'll gnaw on it in her bed. I prefer to give her beef bones, as she can clean out a kong in five minutes flat!

if your dog is a power chewer, the black kongs are definately stronger. i do a mixture of things, most have been said.

another thing i do is mix a kibble with grated cheese, stuff into kong, then microwave to melt cheese, leave to cool. the cheese binds it all, takes mine a while to empty this.

xx

Am really sorry, but whats a kong?! This page is intriguing!

[/ QUOTE ]A kong is a dog toy like this...

kong2.jpg

They come in loads of diff shapes and sizes.

Just a word of warning.........I filled my dogs kong with tinned butchers tripe mix, he took it into the garden and we all forgot about it. 5 days later another dog found it and brought it back still half full of meat and crawling with maggots. YUK! I now check at the end of the day that they're all empty and washed out with boiling water.

[ QUOTE ]
You can fill it with treats to stimulate/keep your pooch occupied when out or just use it as a toy

[/ QUOTE ]

I think the instructions say not to leave the dog unattended with a kong? Not sure why. I leave mine with those stuffed bones if I'm out. I take out that vile gunk they come with and smear inside with cheese spread, bovril or peanut butter and use the kongs to give me a bit of peace in the evening.

Haha how funny, was just out in the garden with ASBO Jetty and we were playing with his kong, he absoloutley loves it, keeps him quiet for ages
tongue.gif

On saying that...I am starting to wonder what that rather loud bang that just came from downstairs was....
