Kool coat or Aussie allrounder?

As the title really, looking for a sheet type fly rug as the mesh rubs the sensitive skinned princess.
Preferably one with a nice long neck that doesn’t end up riding up and not covering the neck when they’re grazing.
What do people prefer?

In the hottest of weather the Aussie can get a little clammy and the koolcoat is better. But for the other 98% of the time the Aussie allrounder is far superior. Fits better, tougher, light shower proof and cool enough for moderate summer temps

I am pleased with my Aussie all rounder it stays in place well and my boy hasn’t ever overheated in it and it hasn’t rubbed anywhere

My one wore the Aussie for a lot of last summer - we’ve moved now and far fewer flies around but it was a good rug and didn’t rub (he’s sensitive and rubs easily). I did however have to get a chest extender for it as it was too short in the chest. But he is a combination of deep chested with large shoulders so on a normal horse you’d be fine. He did get hot in it when it was 25C plus so he didn’t wear it those days.

Aussie Allrounder for me too - I have the same type of horse as LP - big in the chest - so just went up a size. Haven't found him getting hot in it, seems to keep nice and cool.

I’m going to throw in a curve ball and recommend the Weatherbeeta Breeze or the Weatherbeeta Summer Sheet. Weatherbeeta make Kool Koats, and the above are athe WB ‘pimped’ version. They’re absolutely beautiful rugs, with the memory foam wither relief pads and a lovely fit.

I have the WB summet sheet too. I really like it and it does help keep mine cool and protect from bites but it's not shower proof and the front fastening is a single buckle.

It is a good fit and if it was the material of the Aussie and had better fastenings it would be perfect

My sensitive skinned horse has a kool koat and the premier equine equivalent but not the aussie allrounder (yet).

The PE fits well and has a very long neck. It is showerproof but a bit on the warm side.

The kool koat is nicer fabric but can pull a bit around the chest/shoulder. I have one without a neck so not sure how the neck fits.

I really like the shires tempest fly rug. Fits well, keeps them cool and is a smooth fabric rather than holey mesh. It isn't shower proof though.

I bought a second hand Aussie Allrounder for my broad chested Welshie & its great - fits lovely, doesnt slip, tough & keeps him cool. Far superior to the all various PE ones I've bought etc. My youngster has a Shires Highlander sweet itch hoodie but I find it gets hot quickly & moves around too.

my boy tends to wear his aussie alrounder with his rambo fly rug on top. he also has a shires full face fly mask which goes right down over his nose and he will finally stay out all day. absolutely hates the flies, even if it's very hot he would rather have both rugs on and not have flies biting him. if he has just the aussie or just the fly rug on and mask he stands by the gate looking miserable wanting to come it. it wouldn't suit every horse, but we seem to have finally cracked it!!! god love him

Kool Coat I find just don’t fit well. the last thing you want in the hot weather is it sliding back or sideways and rubbing. They also last 5 mins on my horses as they are always getting ripped. Finally which is my pet hate on anything made by WB is the rubbish fittings. The clips break or fail so quickly.

I’ve got both, if it’s really hot I found the Aussie gets a bit warm so them use the Kool coat. Kool coat doesn’t fit so well & the quality isn’t as good.
