Anyone use the Korsteel Gold bits? What type of metal are they made from?

Also - French Links? I was led to believe they were quite strong/harsh bits but today i read completely the opposite. So are they strong/harsh or soft/kind??

Are you confusing French links and Dr bristol bits? French links are a nice mild bit to use, the Dr bristol looks similar but is much stronger.

Not sure what the metal is on the Korsteel . French links are a kind mouthpiece as they do not push a joint onto your horses tongue ( as a snaffle does , snaffles push the joint downwards onto the tongue which stops the horse being able to move its tongue and swallow .... so not very nice at all ..) A french link means that there is no joint to press onto the horses tongue , the horse can lift its tongue and swallow ( we do the same , we have to lift our tongue to swallow , so do horses , try resting your finger onto your tongue then try to swallow ! ) . A hanging cheek french link is good and kind as well as the bit hangs in your horses mouth and is lifted off your horses tongue .

No, i always knew the Dr Bristol was a strong bit and def stronger than a french link but someone told me a french link was strong to, this was years ago.

What are the differences between the eggbutt and a loose ring as well??

Ah i see. Does a hanging cheek not give poll pressure though?

French Link bits are verrry gentle bits and really soft :) hanging cheek bits do give poll pressure and and eggbutt snaffle has fixed sides where as a loose ring doesnt. There is the chance that a loose ring will pinch the horses moouth where as a eggbutt wont. but the joints in them are the same :D
