Has anyone who purchased a KPH Horsebox within the last 2 years, particularly the last 12 months, had any response regarding the honouring of the KPH two year warranty with the after sales support package (AASP). Also anyone had work carried out that should have been covered under warranty since they closed?

Seems odd that they are in liquidation discussing winding up, yet it looks like they were taken over by JTH Holdings as sole shareholder in January

Are you involved with the meeting on the 20th? Are JTH trying to phoenix the company somehow?

I would seek legal advise on this
Yes but this statement on the Gazette is contradictory to the information from Rushtons when I spoke to them this morning again. I am taking legal advice. JTH I cannot get any response from them by phone or email.

Hi I purchased a KPH box a year or so ago. I was informed by KPH that KPH were closing and could not do the work itself. Just had to pay for service/Mot to be done locally. I am claiming that sum/debt from KPH through Rushtons their liquidators. I do not know if there will be sufficient funds available to pay out my claim and other customers in a similar position. Pretty sure JTH just bought the designs/IP from KPH and not the company. Hope this helps. Disappointing position to be in …

I am shocked. Sad to read this - such a good brand. Kevin said on his FB page he and Janet were retiring.

Fabulous company to deal with, especially Russell, always ready to help and advise. And to my mind and my horses, the best lorry I could have bought.

i agree a fab lorry which I love so overall I am happy with my choice. Just disappointed with the service package element and how the Parker’s’ retirement and closure of the business was sprung on customers who had the after sales service package as part of our deal (even I understand very recent purchasers).

That bit sucks. He could have arranged for those to be taken over or a refund of the unused service element.

Agree, it was a big selling point for myself and a few others who have contacted me. The annual cost of service, MOT, warranty work should have been deducted from the final payments because according a financial statement sent out by the liquidators the closing was on the cards through 2024 and yet they still continued to take new orders and put the two year warranty and service package on the contracts right up to when the shutting down process was being planned. If it hadn't been for social media and the announcement by JTH we may never have known about this liquidation anyway. Initially it read as though JTH would take over everything but they have only taken over the designs.

Applied to Rushtons as also bought a KP in the last year… had to pay out for bits of work which should have been covered by the warranty.. sadly filled all the claim forms in but not heard a dicky bird. My last email to Rushtons remains unanswered. Such a shame the KP company had to end in this way.. Kevin worked really hard and his Lorries are superb. I can’t take benefit from the two years sales package now but at least I have a decent horsebox.. grateful for small mercies.

Has anyone heard from Rushtons regarding any claims?

I did after I submitted a claim. A VERY curt response implying the Warranty was just tough, don't even bother asking about it again. Regarding something I was charged a lot for that wasn't installed I have claimed for, and another electrical part that is wrong and needs replacing the reply was to not get any work done until I hear from them again. I have no installation certification for the Inverter / Charger which will be an issue and it hasn't been fitted correctly so I need to go to the Victron authorised agent to try and rectify it and with no installation certificate it will be costly. The service package and warranty was my deciding factor to buy from them so that is hugely annoying.

why do you need an instillation certificate? Is that a usual thing? Victron are fitted everywhere from boats to caravans and I've never seen not heard of a installation certificate, and boats in particular are very, very, very hot on electrical safety and have to pass a test on it.

It’s a shame Rushtons responded to you in this way( or not at all in my case). However the limited communications I did have with them was civil and no suggestion was made regarding it being tough about the warranty. I’ve assumed this anyway. I do hope you manage to get your issues sorted.. my isolator wasn’t fitted correctly and it’s cost me over £1000 to sort it with two separate mechanics and road rescue as the battery kept draining. Not really what you expect with a new vehicle. The service plan was also a huge deciding factor for me.. I think this was a last ditched attempt to encourage sales which clearly worked.. would have been expensive to facilitate though.. so wondering if the genuine intention was there? Guess we will never know.

Aside from that the mechanic commented that he’d never seen such a well made lorry.. no corners cut.. maybe that’s why it was difficult to balance the books as overheads were probably greater than other HB manufacturers who weren’t so ‘thorough’.

Hope you manage to get some recompense.

Victron have an excellent long warranty on the MultiPlus system but it must be fitted according to their standard. I have had Victron systems for years in motorhomes, and my husband race sails and as you say they are the widely used in the marine industry. I had a new German motorhome a few years ago and the V Multiplus should be fitted vertically, if not then horizontally. For some reason it had been factory fitted on it's back and you get condensation eventually on the circuit board. Victron were good and replaced it even though it failed after 4 years because the German manufacturer uses Victron exclusively and this was a design fitting error so they part covered a new replacement. Specifically I had to have it done in the UK by an authorised Victron installer with an installation certificate for the new unit warranty. If you join the Victron community on their actual website it's often discussed on there because you can buy Victron units even off Amazon but the warranty is dependant on correct installation. A case of always read the small print.
