Hi all,
Gonna be a bit of a long one but I'll keep it as short as I can. My dad's horse has quite a habit of giving him flying lessons and I'm really starting to feel sorry for him.
We went to try him and he was brilliant with Dad, passed 5 stage vetting and was brilliantly behaved for months after we had him, and it brilliantly behaved most of the time. The first flying lesson my dad was giving was when dad was re-mounting out on a hack, having to get off to open one of the many horrible gates around here, which are okay on a 14.1, not so easy on a 17hh. Horse shot forward as dad was swinging his leg over and landed just behind the saddle. And not surprisingly he was launched up into the tree above and came back down through the branches eating dirt on landing. Horse hot stepped it through the town on his own to the local garden centre where he let himself into a field to graze. We thought we'd let that one go, not many horses would be happy about somebody thudding down onto there loins. Then he puts in another buck when a dog is yapping at his legs, again launching dad, and again we'd thought we'd let that one go.
Then he started doing it in the school when dad got on within the first 10-15 minutes, or as soon as his bum hit the saddle. They aren't little bucks I can assure you. Got saddle checked after the first 3 bucks, and he needed a wider gullet, seemed fine for a while then he started again. Got saddle checked again, nope still a nice fit.
What does it sound like to you? Don't like throwing words around like kissing spines, but we'd like to cover every possibility. Back lady coming out soon, she's been on holiday typically! Haha.
Any advice welcomed! Thanks for reading if you got that far, ask anymore questions you like too.
Might also be a point to add that he stands funny with his back legs, one slightly faces inward when resting. It's got better the more muscle he's put on but he still does it. Oh and he used to drive in Ireland!
Sorry for such an epicly long post! Lol
