OK guys,i am a massive fan of kauto and hoping he slaughters denman in the gold cup??Watching denman he has not yet been seriously challenged by anything decent in his races(not on kautos form anyway)Kauto has had to fight to win back some of his races(courtesy of his last fence blunder and having to pin back exoctic dancer who is a bloody good horse in his own right),wereas denman has not had to battle yet??Soooooo who would your money be on,after the last jumping performace of kauto my money is on him!!!!(Not literally, what would i get back on £2 to win?????apmsl)

Kauto this year, perhaps Denman next year when he has a bit more experience and has met the older horses and their normal cruising speeds.
Should be a cracking race; fingers crossed they all come back safe and those two don't take on each other too soon and hand it to something else on a plate by making blunders. Have to say though that Exotic Dancer is well overdue for a big win, they can't always go on and break his heart every race when he's done nothing but his best.

I don't think than Denman has shown enough form to be favourite in front of Kauto yet. I think that Kauto is the better of the two at the moment but if they both get there in one piece I hope it will be one hell of a race. (and that exotic dancer comes out on top!)

Must admit i would have liked to see kauto on his own defending his crown and bring denman out nxt yr,think he has earnt it!!Unfortunately for exotic dancer there was one better than him born at the same time, shame coz he tries his heart out!!!Still i am all for kauto!

I can't see it going to Denman, he is a class act but I think needs 12 months to improve, Kauto Star is just too quick and as much as I think he is the complete racehorse, I would love to see Exotic Dancer beat him, as Pat says, how long can they carry on breaking one horses heart. I have a feeling this time it could be his turn.

This will be THE race of the year - I'm so looking forward to it!

As for who will win - I am a huge admirer of both horses but I think Denman is the complete package, a relentless galloper and a superb jumper.

I'd like to see Kauto, Denman & Exotic Dancer all jump last together.................and may the best horse win?!

I thought Denman is the better natural jumper. I hadn't seen him make a mistake until last Saturday's race. With Kauto you just HOPE that he jumps OK, with Denman it is a surprise if he misses one.

Denman was making mincemeat of some quite good horses last week. But Kauto has done it before - so for this year maybe Kauto, unless he blunders badly at a vital stage.

Personally I'm a Denman fan - his jumping just seems so much more consistent out of the two and I knwo which I'd pick to get me home safely! Only seen him make the one mistake last weekend.

He just seems like a machine and really sets himself on winning. Never seen a jockey quite so motionless when the horse just goes up a gear and he just keeps going. With Kauto you have your heart in your mouth (esp at the last) as you'r enever quite sure if this will be the time his jumping error will be his downfall!

Think I just have more of a soft spot for Denman, he's a good big horse!

Think will be a v interesting race although i am on holiday in sunnier climes so won't get to see it. However, i dread these big races anyway (find watching the National terrifying) and I just hope all horses get home safe.

I actually think Denman is going to give Kauto a run for his money (so to speak

) Denman on Saturday looked a class act and his fluency over the fences were second to none. He only made one blunder, which Sam managed to stay balanced and then carry on as if nothing had happened, so classy. I love Kauto Star as much as Denman, but I just wonder if Ruby, being the more experienced Jockey, rode Denman, what the outcome would be? I also think Sam is one of the up and coming jockeys who is making a big name for himself. It has to be the MUST SEE of the year.

I'm going to bet on both horses but the odds are going to be so rubbish

I've already backed Exotic Dancer, as someone said above, he cant keep coming second, and based on his last few races at Cheltenham, he runs on better than most, I just *hope* he gets his chance one day

He's won me a fair amount of money too, we spotted him on his first ever run at Cheltenham and he stood out a mile in the parade ring then even when he had a rubbish coat, he looked like nothing else that day.

Whilst Kauto is a great horse, I dont think he is that special, hes not a Best Mate etc. Denman is a superb young horse, and whatever it is, I just cant bet on Kauto... his jumping still doesnt grab me.

It should be a stonking race, am sooooo looking forward to it!!

Denman for me. He's a class act & is foot perfect over his fences.
I do like Kauto & he's a good horse but as others have said, he can blunder with his fences.

The other question is the run in to the post, that hill is a killer.....
I'm definitely for Denman, he has the whole package in my eyes.

My brother goes racing all year but the Fetival is his first love & being little sister, I'm lucky enough to have him take me for the Gold Cup. I seriously cannot wait!!!!

i would have to say kauto, based on the fact that ruby's chosen him. ruby has to be one of the best jockeys around, and knows a good horse when he sits on one. the fact that he has chosen kauto says to me, that he feels the horse has more then denman. but we'll have to wait and see. going to be good, although they both have to get there in one piece first!

I love Kauto Star and his King George on Boxing Day was awesome.

But Denman - he hasn't been out of third gear yet and we don't know how good he is. I could just see him having the gears to beat Kauto.

Its going to be a great Gold Cup.

Absolutely agree.

Kauto Star looks unbeatable at the moment, but he hasn't always been the best jumper, and although he seems to have improved, he still makes me nervous when watching him jump.

Denman is the real deal - everything is right about him, and he's a superstar in waiting.
I tend to think, realistically, that he's not quite experienced enough just yet, but I would be cheering my head off if he crossed that finishing line first...
