Hi- this is sort of related to this topic, well it's about a breed instead of breeding...
i keep seeing this breed or type of horse popping up everywhere but even Google can't seem to reveal the answer to my question- what is a KWPN horse??
I would be extremely grateful if you could soothe my confuzzled brain!
Many thanks <font color="purple"> </font>

Koninklijk Warmbloed Paardenstamboek der Nederlanden. AKA Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands. There are a few Dutch warmblood breeds like the Gelderlander, Groninger and according to some sources but I'm not convinced - the Friesian.

I rode at a KWPN stud near Eindhoven for 12 years. Mostly progeny of Concorde (Voltaire). Warmbloods are my first love but unfortunately in the UK I find anything with the word 'warmblood' associated with it automatically deserves a high price tag

Arghh! I hate the word 'breed' in the context of Dutch Warmblood! Breed suggests a closed studbook (like our native breeds) whereas the KWPN is quite an open studbook and commonly accepts blood from outside if it fits their criteria. They do register 3 different 'types' of horse though which I think is probably what you mean! Those types are:

1) Riding horse which is now split into dressage horses and jumping horses - most of the competition Dutch warmbloods are this type.
2) Gelders horse.
3) Harness horse.
