I have a bought mare resently her breeding is as follows:

sire - Epilot , Dam - Olilly

and her KWPN passport says Reg A, does anyone know what this means, and can i ever present her for gradings etc and would it be worthwhile??

- I do hope to take a foal from her at somepoint in future, does she have good lines to breed from etc

Sorry this is all new to me.

First off, is the dam of your mare a TB? And just throwing out random lines and asking if she would make a good broodmare, isn't probably the proper way to go about it.

Anyway, Reg A means stallion or dam who is registered, but not with the KWPN studbook. Well registered with a recognized studbook with recorded breeding I beleive 4 dams back. Your mare I believe, unless they changed it would be eligible for all the same gradings as the main studbook. And if she's bred to a KWPN stallion, her resulting foal is in the mainbook.

I have a KWPN reg A mare myself whom is a homebred.

Hello. I used to have a really nice big gelding by Epilot out of a KWPN mare. I used to show him in showhunter classes, was quite successful too. Epilot was presented for grading with kwpn but didnt grade, think he was lame but later he won a big showjumping championship I think with Franke sloothak (SP) and was accepted into the KWPN. Epilot has produced some good showjumpers and has a few graded sons. Epilot isnt known for producing great movers especially his trot but his canter is better. My gelding by Epilot was super easy to do, he didnt enjoy dressage or showjumping but he was a machine XC and loved the showring. I regretfully

sold him about 4yrs ago, so if anyone knows a smart 17h, 10yo bay gelding called Jhuke (DUKE), could be known as Teun by EPILOT then please let me know!!!

@ Terrib - The Dam is Olilly who dam is by Einstein and Excity and is down on her papers as dutch warmblood but both her parents are KWPN

- Epilot is by Pilot and Dixi.

I would like a foal off her as she is a super mare and jumps like stink, but the foal i get will be kept by myself anyway, not to be sold or anything like that. But if she has good bloodline i would prob payout for the best stallion i could afford int he hope I got a lovely horse for myself.

i have only had her 1 year and already she is doing well in dressage and jumping - but jumping is her strong point, she has a lovely jump, and I aim to do BE with her and so far she is showning good signs.

The reason i asked is i seen a gradinh in scotland soon and although i wont make this one i might consider taking her next year to see how she fairs, but i was unsure as why it said Reg A and if that meant she had been graded before.

Yes, You can take her to the approvals with a Reg A book. I looked into taking my 3yo filly, but the costs are just too much coming from Ireland.

Good Luck!
