Last night I thought Id lost my horses passport and just as I was giving up hope, I've finally found it this afternoon!
I was intending to get my name added as his new owner. However not having had a KWPN before Im confused.
On the page which lists change of ownership details, the only name on there is that of his breeder, dated 2005. So, I presume his previous 2 owners didnt change the ownership on his passport? (I know his history from when he arrived in the UK.)
This is the advise on the KWPN website:
You have bought a KWPN horse and you would like to be registered as the Registered Party. The individual registered as Registered Party of the horse is mentioned on the Studbook paper and in the horse-passport.
You are mentioned as Registered Party in these documents, but not as the owner, because 'owner' suggests that the document is a title deed. This is not the case for either the studbook paper or the horse passport.
If you are a member of KWPN, you can have both documents registered in your name. If you are not a member, you can only have the horse passport registered to your name.
If you would like to participate in KWPN events, such as inspections and performance tests, but also for the registration of covering mares and foals it is necessary to have the horse registered to your name.
The cost to transfer the Registered Party (Im a non KWPN member) is 45.50
So Do I actually need to do this? Hes a gelding, and Im competing BD.
