i have a gelding with a kwpn passport. he is 5yo and where it says name it has the letter V. i have been told this relates to the year he was foaled. does this mean that i can name him but it has to begin with V or can i use any name. do i have to send the passport away to be updated. thanks!!!

Phone the KWPN on Tel: +31 (0)341-255555. I know there is a time limit of up to 3 years old on a change of name, but if he has not got a name then you may still be able to do it. You will have to send the passport back to Holland. The KWPN contacts tend to speak good English and will be able to help you out.

i think you will find its a 'U' and its means 'unknown' so you can send it off to KWPN, pay around £30 and they will put his new name on for you.

Its the same on my horses KWPN passport x

Captain, the letter "V" is the correct letter for those horses born in 2002 (i.e those horses who will be 5 this year). Your best bet is to phone the KWPN and give them the registration number of your horse. They will soon be able to tell you what you need to do.
