hi guys,
we have recently got an L200 animal 02 reg. fab truck but.. i have noticed an issue with the brakes. when applying the brakes fairly hard but not by any means emergency stop. for example i met someone in a narrow lane yesterday, i was doing 10-15 mph and approached a round about quicker than normal so just had to apply the brakes abit more. The brakes seem to grind under my foot (abit like when you slide in the snow and they lock) you have to release the brake and apply again but this doesnt always work. When it does this you effectivley have little or no braking. Is this a mitsubishi thing when firm braking or just a individual problem? we have only had it around a month and its still under warranty so it can go back. the dealership serviced and mot it before we picked it up so i would have though if the brakes needed replacing they would have done so. or i would hope so anyway.
thanks ;-)

i wouldnt know. the abs light comes on when turning the key but goes off again before the engine starts and stays off. Its an awfull feeling. I just feel like i have no brakes when it does this. And its not exactly a small truck to plow into some one :-/

Sounds like the ABS - my sorento done in the other day when I had to brake hard and my passenger side wheels were on a different surface to my drivers side. Didn't impact the general effectiveness of the braking though.

I found my brakes on my Shogun to be very poor in general - even when they'd all been renewed.

yes i find the brakes on this poor. but i drive this and a 306, so when getting in this i have to remember to approach round abouts slower and use my gears. There is a chance that in the summer we will be towing with it so i think getting it checked will put my mind at rest.
