So - Finally. Day 66 from first tie, 64 from second.
She woke up this morning on our bed and threw up (nice). Panted a tiny bit then went and sat quietly in her whelping box. I took the big dogs out for a run to tire them out, still nothing happening so went outside to feed horses,
Texted my vet friend who said she could be ages in that stage so called OH who said nothing was happening so I thought I'd quickly hack my mare round block as was on puppy vigil yesterday so she didn't get out.
And B*&^*^& me but I got a call ten minutes later to say she'd delivered her first!
Shot home and she was just having her second. It took her all of two hours to have all four. Two girls and two boys. She did it all by herself and has been so gentle with myself, OH and DS saying hello to her new family. I've now made DH take DS out for a few hours so she can chill.

I think we've chosen the two we are keeping. The smallest boy and the girl who looks most like mum but the others are going to have to be homed. I have several family members and a few other people who have shown interest lined for the other two up so I think I'm going to say first come first served. BUT since I am not charging for them what I've decided to do is ask people to make a donation to a dog charity as a gesture of commitment.
Do you think this is reasonable for family? Part of me thinks I'd prefer them to go to homes not family as I will be annoyed if I see them being treated in a way I'd rather not and that could be tricky with family.
My OH would be quite happy to keep them all and work them as terriers but I am a bit less keen on having 7 dogs!
Anyway - She is a rough coated Jack and the stud dog is more terrier cross. I chose him over the straight Jack I was offered as a stud since his owner had bred him and his grandmother and kept several of them so I could see several generations back and see how they behaved with children and other animals. The straight Jack was originally a stray and I worried a bit more about his background.
The pups are MOST likely to be going to members of my family who all have small children so this was essential. What does anyone else do when there is competition for homes?
Oh and pictures will follow if I can make photobucket work!
