I used to have a GSD; needed brushing every day. How are Labs? Do they have an undercoat? Do they moult ceaselessly? (Even if most don't, one owned by me will!

I had a yellow Lab years ago; used to have to vacuum at least 3 times a day, every day. The hairs are atrocious and you still find them for years after the dog has gone.

After spending a week with a Labrador and a Pug last week, I have to say that my clothes were absolutely covered in yellow hair the entire time. Rather grateful for my single-coated dog, to be honest!

ive got a yellow lab she seems to moult most of the time some times worse then others i got a whole carrier bag from her the other day and my carpet still looks like mow hair in the morning iv have to hovver at least twice a day, but saying that she is the most loving, loyal, sweet, kind dog that ive ever had so i can put up with that she gives me so much back and i love her.

Mum and dad used to have one before I was born, mum said that he'd lie down and when he got up you could see where he'd been as there was a big patch of yellow hair!! lol

Did you know that a long coat or wire coat moults or loses less than a smooth/short coat?

yep they might fool people by having a fairly short coat but i seem to spend most of my time tidying up the piles of hair that appear around the house! dont really brush mine

To answer your question Sooty - my black lab does moult - seems particularly bad at this time of year... I don't mind it though - he is worth it

I have had a yellow lab before and she was lovely but yes she did leave loads of hair everywhere, only really an issue when going out in black clothes.

My yellow moults all year round but only a small amount and as they are short hairs they don't show up as much as the goldie's!
