Labradors

Hairy Old Cob

You are so wrong!

I have two yellow Labs, mother and daughter. One loves her food, the other is sooooooooo not a foodie.

Load of tosh about black labs being better gundogs. Depends on individual dogs and training.

Chocolate labs got bad press as when first bred as were bred purely for colour, and so of inferior temperament and confirmation in a lot of cases.

Be warned though over health tests, current eye certificates for both parents will NOT mean your lab won`t develope PRA.I speak from bitter experience. Having driven to Scotland for this fox red well bred dog ,he is three now and confirmed by blood test to be PRA affected. Go for a lab from Optigen DNA tested clear of PRA parents, I am!
I wrongly thought the condition was mostly bred out of labs, well how wrong can you be?:o

we use to have 2 labs, one black and one golden but they both passed away at the beginning fo this year one aged 14 and the other 13 :( we have a golden lab at the moment who will be 1 next month, i find labs very easy to train, very obidient, i don't find they eat everything like my bassets do and they are fantastic with kids. As much as i love my basset hounds i will always have one lab, although i was tempted to get another last week when i saw a litter of chunky black lab puppies but think i need a bigger house first :D

Nothing to add but a few piccies of The Moo:cool:
