Labradors...

Awe Lizsie she's gorgeous... I'm going to help a friend look at a litter on Saturday.
I must not buy a puppy ... I must not buy a puppy ... I must not buy a puppy - don't think my lab Molly would ever forgive me :D

Labradors are simply the best dogs in my humble opinion!

Agree with previous posters that some are terrible chewers (my previous one managed to get tiles off the floor, chewed everything and anything if we went out!). This one (Boots) has a run in the garage for when we are out as we'd just had a new kitchen fitted when we got him, however, he is not a chewer.

Boots loves footwear and is always wandering around with everyones shoes, often they are found in his bed or the garden. The more worn the shoe, the more attractive!

He is lovely, loyal, affectionate, cuddly, fabulous with my kids (they can dress him up, he loves it!) and generally a really important member of our family. He is however quite sensitive and you have to be aware of this, if we tell our Springer off, Boots always assumes he has been naughty too, so you have to make a fuss of him to reassure him that he is a good boy.

Labradors are extremely greedy and he has been known to steal my husbands lamb chops from on top of the oven. He also takes his cleaning duties seriously and is great as cleaning up spillages! He will spend hours under a tree if fruit is likely to fall and picks blackberries at this time of year when we are walking.

Boots is also very laid back and enjoys a snooze on the sofa, or if it's nice a sun bathe in the garden. However, if he is being left he MUST be left in his run with his bed or he gets worried. Leave him in the garden and he gets seriously pi$$ed off!! He sulks when you get back.

Oh, and don't pack early for a holiday, he goes very quiet and upset as soon as a suitcase appears anywhere.

Also, Boots is extremely sensitive to my older daughter. If she is ill he does not leave her side, (except for a nip to the garden for a quick toilet break, or to eat) We know when she is starting to recover as he will wander off for a bit and then come back, he seems to do this about 2 hours before she suddenly says "I think I'm feeling a bit better" Can't be coincidence, he has been like this for years and will spend days with her if he feels his nursing skills are required.

Guess he's just one very special dog and I love him to bits!

Our family has three currently, a blonde, choc and a black. We also have seven little squirming pups - coming up to two weeks old and getting fatter every day!

Form an orderly queue ladies.....
