The hay on the track is intended as an addition to the grass, there's not enough hay put out overnight to be 100% of their forage ration. However I believe they dislike the grass for some reason so are eating all the hay then not really eating enough grass (even though there is now plenty to eat)

Strange in that I have kept horses on fields that were harrowed with the horse on them, and it didnt seem to impact the horses' grazing. (I know it is not recommended due to increased risk of grass sickness). But I think was a fairly low density of poo to acreage.

Was there a lot of poo harrowed in on the track? I guess if there was a reasonable amount of poo and no rain that might put horses off eating grass.

Where my horse lives now, is a mix of poo picking and spreading poo on land for fertilizing, but I think we do wait about 4 months before regrazing land where there has been poo spread.
