Lack of horses for sale

Is anyone else currently looking and finding not much is coming up for sale (other than the same repeated ads)?

Just wondered if others think it’s usual for the time of year, or if people simply aren’t selling?
 
On the off chance, a friend of mine has just decided to sell her 15hh 5yo cob that's a super fun, game little chap (and sound as a pound) if anyone is looking for that sort of thing for less than £7k.
I don't stand to benefit from the sale at all so no vested interest so don't believe it's against the rules to say so, it would just be nice if he went to someone from the forum so we know it's a nice home rather than having to go on the open market.

I’m looking for a 15.2/3 version and it’s proving almost impossible.

I'll double check with my friend, he was 15hh when he arrived a year ago at 4yo so is likely bigger now, and with 10 inches of bone he's got some filling out to do. Anything under 17hh all looks the same height to me, my barometer is broken! 🤣 (he's 15.1hh, she's just gotten back to me)

ETA: If you're willing to import, Aughrim stables comes recommended with some nice sorts, a couple of people from the yard have bought from them and all very happy. They're on FB.

I had one for sale at £15k but actually have given up and will sell him next year as he is a super horse and will only keep improving. I had another one for £6.5k and I expected phone to be red hot and it wasn’t for a nice but green 5yo. He has gone now but I was surprised. Market has cooled a lot.

Having a pony for sale at the moment (small lead rein type) I’m getting quite a few enquiries but an awful lot of worryingly novicey (though entertaining) questions and people seeming to want something for nothing. I’ve put it down to it being the end of the season and lots of ponies seem to be available now. I guess people don’t want the cost of kids ponies through winter?

Was a bit gobsmacked by the Shetland on a local site up for £5,500. Yes, it might be a unicorn but that’s an awful lot. It’s already been reduced by a few hundred but I still think it’s wishful thinking.

Why should a Shetland, assuming it’s a top class registered up to height pony be a whole lot cheaper than a bigger pony? It will have required time and therefore money spent on its education to turn it into a unicorn and unicorns are priceless. There are a few, not a lot, Shetlands out competing at a good level although the top ones are rarely advertised as like many others they tend to exchange hands by word of mouth.

My standard shetland for my grandkids is the most expensive horse I have ever bought! - what price my grandkids safety and he truly is a saint, young, sensible, will turn his hoof to anything and tolerates two kids leaping around him and hanging off him, would happily pay it again if needed.

I have a 15.2hh ISH that would thrive in a allrounder type home. PM me if you're interested. I'm dreadful at selling so haven't advertised (buries head in sand)
