Took my tb x cb to the barbury fun ride set of really well nicly forward going for about the first 4 miles then went really lazy not sure if she was just being a lazy bum of lacking fule shes defanaty fit enought and i feed her plenty whats ur thoughts she gets a scoop of sugrbeet scoop of barley half a scoop of compotition mix and a large scoop of alfalfa twice a day

Hmmm feeding a lazy horse is a mine field lol ...is he a bit over weight? My wee tb was a lazy bum but after a long warm up was alot better and had to be super fit and a good weight to be proactive. I changed his feed to a stud balancer and Alfa A Oil with Soya Oil about a month ago and it really did perk him up for some reason!!!

My friend's cob has recently dipped in energy. Earlier this year we were doing fun and endurance rides and she was fab. All of a sudden she has become a plod. We're not sure why - change of weather, nights drawing in?

Mine is the opposite, he is so lazy in the summer, he is a nutter atm  he is so cheeky!

I did give him stud cubes last year when he was lazy and it helped a lot ... they were like rocket fuel :D:eek:

Oh cbxtb goes through a lazy phase in spring and autumn, regardless of fitness and weight. Bloods were done a few years ago and it seems that she lacks iron around these times so we just supplement through these periods. We keep a v careful eye on her weight too as she is a v good doer! Any more weight really makes her forwardness drop like a stone.
She is fed one feed per day and poor grazing 24/7. Her feed is 1 scoop fast fibre, 50g microionized linseed, 10g magnesium, measure of joint supp, 25g brewers yeast. As the winter draws in and she competes more she has a scoop of chaff with a scoop of soaked speedibeet with the same supps.

If fitness and weight are good and he recieves a balanced feed then I would consider getting the vet to do bloods and seeing if he is lacking anything.
