Well, after reading a very thought provoking article somewhere about sports bras a few years ago, I invested in a decent ShockAbsorber Level 4 for riding [I was a 32F at the time, now a 30DD]. The article, in a nutshell :
- boobs are ligaments not muscle, so once they're stretched, without surgery, they won't go back. Bouncing around in sitting trot classes as stretching.
- the only thing keeping the underwires in a bra is a small stitch over the hole they're threaded in through. They can dislodge and in the event of a fall quite simply stake you [
]
- riders don't realise how much bouncing around they actually do
- you're supposed to get a new sports bra every 6mths for it to keep benefitting you [says she who's just got a new one for the first time since burghley 07
]
I was getting a new sports bra and went on the ShockAbsorber website and found this nifty little thing, which actually made me giggle but also shocked me at the 'range of movement' - http://www.shockabsorber.co.uk/bounceometer/shock.html
Riding is classed as 'extreme' [the lady in a serious tuck jump] just for the record! Bit of brain food for a Thursday morning!
