Well, after reading a very thought provoking article somewhere about sports bras a few years ago, I invested in a decent ShockAbsorber Level 4 for riding [I was a 32F at the time, now a 30DD]. The article, in a nutshell :

- boobs are ligaments not muscle, so once they're stretched, without surgery, they won't go back. Bouncing around in sitting trot classes as stretching.
- the only thing keeping the underwires in a bra is a small stitch over the hole they're threaded in through. They can dislodge and in the event of a fall quite simply stake you [

- riders don't realise how much bouncing around they actually do
- you're supposed to get a new sports bra every 6mths for it to keep benefitting you [says she who's just got a new one for the first time since burghley 07

I was getting a new sports bra and went on the ShockAbsorber website and found this nifty little thing, which actually made me giggle but also shocked me at the 'range of movement' - http://www.shockabsorber.co.uk/bounceometer/shock.html

Riding is classed as 'extreme' [the lady in a serious tuck jump] just for the record! Bit of brain food for a Thursday morning!

OMG - I can't believe I had naked boobs on my computer at work! You meanie! Had to close that fast!!!!!

Looks interesting though, will have another look when the men in the office have gone!

might invest myself in a sports bra then...the underwire 'stabbing' is a bit frightening too, never really thought about it before!

ps. i did a little giggle too talavera! lol

Well whatever you do DO NOT buy a Pure Lime sports bra! Lets just say I was huge before I became pregnant - now its simply ridiculous. From OP add 6 and slip further down the alaphabet

It's a ridiculous design which means the straps can be crossed over at the back or simply worn as a conventional bra. However the straps simply slide in which means they esily slide out especially in the throws of sitting trot!!!!!

I have one, and they are actually really good-let's just say I know when I don't have it on! :P Ditto to the having a giggle at the video :P

Good reminder, I really, really, really must buy a new sportsbra!

My current one is far too many years old!

I hate riding in normal bras as the straps always have a habit of slipping off your shoulder and if you've loads of layers on, it's a pain to hoick them back into place again!

Not gonna risk clicking that link as the pervy-est guy in the office can see my screen and will make some comment!!! I have invested in a really good Triumph Tri action sports bra for running and use it for riding too, it's mega I heartily recommend it. Cannot stand having a lesson in a normal bra and getting that 4 boob affect as they start to creep out the top!!!!

I've been desparately looking for a new good sports bra for ages, really struggling to find a suitable one.

The ONLY one that fitted in M&S and didn't allow bounce when I bobbed up and down in the changing rooms was black and bright pink - not good under my white shirts for comps!

I want a white or nude one, that unfastens and isn't racer backed as I nearly dislocated my shoulder last time I tried on a racer back one (big boobs & small back combo)! And I want to be able to try it on rather than mail order - bloomin impossible! Will have to trek to Notts to go to bravissimo and hope they have a good selection of sizes in (whenever i got they seem to only have three sizes of each style).

Grrr - sports bras are the worst thing about big boobs!

I use Shockabsorbers too - T, the shop at Springfield usually has them on offer too and often has a good range of sizes.

I've tried loads of types and they are all that work for me though I wear one of their support vests over the sports bra too

agree with racer backs and big boobs/narrow backs - usually end up with an almost dislocated shoulder!

Being 'petite' I've never had to worry too much about bounce

but I do get narked off at having to retrieve my bra straps from half way down my sleeves so may invest in one.

I always wear sports bras for riding. When I did my Equine specific first aid course I was told underwire in bras was the most common reason for punctured lungs in horse riders (you fall off, the underwire pokes out, going straight between your ribs, puncturing your lung).

Simplest solution - wear a body protector. No boob escapes that way!

The saving grace of the day I forgot I had no time to change undies between work and riding was my BP, and it was better than a sports bra!

That video is hilarious!!!
I use the Shockabsorbers too! They are brilliant. I think I am fairly average size (C) but I don't fancy the thought of them being down around my ankles when I get ancient, so might as well look after them now!!

two words........ duck tape!

*joke!*

seriously.....i need to invest in a proper one.....less bounce and a much nicer shape in my comp jacket!

Oh

Sorry! If it's any consolation they to discuss getting it 2 sizes [cup sizes] smaller to act like a compression vest? If not Adididas, Le Coq Sportif and Nike all do 'support crops' which you can put over your normal bra and they help
smile.gif
and they're in your normal xs = xxxxxxxxl [being ott there] sizes!
