Hi Guys hope you are all enjoying the sunshine today ☀

Looking to pose a question today 're livery. If you were looking to move to a yard and they asked for bloods to be done and proof of yearly vaccine programme, would the costs incurred put you off taking that yard into consideration.

No.
I've had to do it before, small fry for a decent yard.
By bloods do you mean a full profile (haven't come across that), or strangles (done that twice)

I think it's getting more common to ask for the strangles test. I'm not sure how much it is, but I'd have it done if a yard requested it.

I had to have the strangles test done when we moved to my yard - but the yard paid for it (i'm pretty sure). Though, it's a nice yard and if they had asked me to pay for it it wouldn't have put me off if I couldn't have found something better.

Strangles is my first concern, liveries I've asked b4 have done more having test for Potomac horse fever and Equine herpes virus, but that was done at there own discretion.we are a new yard and were looking to get it right from the outset. We've had a good few "come see" people but not many have committed to renting stable so we're wondering if cost of test was putting people off.

Strangles testing is standard around my way! Test, isolate, re-test, scope if necessary, all done at the horse owner's expense. I don't know if I'd move somewhere that didn't want me to strangles test! I also had to provide proof of vaccinations when I arrived.

We also participate in a mandatory whole-yard poo sampling/worming programme. Again, this makes me feel reassured rather than put off!
