Hi guys

I was wondering if anyone knew of people who would take on a wanna be vet to do some lambing experience?
I am based in cheshire but I do have transport.

Thanks in advance for your help

Emily

My daughter went to a big farm in South Shropshire, accommodation provided. It was hard work but very worthwhile, they lamb in April, when are you looking to go?

I can't help you find a placement but I did this last year. I just want to say be prepared for little/no sleep, being covered in other creatures bodily gunk, having iodine stained hands and being upset 40% of the time.

Warm clothes that was well are a must as well as cheap pimple gloves with dispoable ones underneath

I help lamb for farmers and help is always needed. I am in Cumbria near Penrith. There certainly will be many farmers who would love the help. PM me if you want more information.

Just had a thought. Do you think if i put something up in the local tack shop I might find somewhere local? do sheep farmers go in tack shops? lol

I'm not sure if this would be suitable for you, but we got an email round uni today (I'm at liverpool vet school) about lambing over the first weekend in december in cheshire. If you pm me some of your details I could email back and see whether or not the farm would take vet-students-to-be as well? It's a farm that lambs 180 ewes over one weekend so they recruit us lot as free labour!

Hi

I am currently looking for lambing worke experiance in cheshire as I am hoping to go to University to study veterinary medicine . I am looking for a placement in December holidays. would it be possible for you to tell me where you went for your placement

Thank You:)

lambing is a fantastic experience. Hard work, little sleep, sometimes upsetting (wouldn't say 40% of the time though!) but massively rewarding- the pet lambs are so sweet. And even i got a bit soppy after delivering my first ones. Be prepared for the smell of sheep though it doesn't wash off haha! And you can't be squeemish about where your hands will go and what you will be covered in :p I lived on a farm, the nicest people in the world, would do it again tomorrow :)
