Lambskin or Merino Wool Saddle Pad

My saddle fitter has recommended using either a Lambskin or Merino Wool Saddle Pad. Without going into the details about why this has been recommended I m trying to find out the differences between the two fabrics. Can anyone explain please.
 
Lamb skin is the skin with the wool still attached to it whilst a wool one would be the wool taken off of the skin and weaved onto fabric.

I prefer wool as I’m rubbish at washing lambskin without it going stiff!
 
If it’s for everyday use then the wool ones are great as much easier to wash. My saddler recommended the 5oz nuumed griffin pad. Great cushioning without being too thick and absorbs sweat well and washes at 40 so easy to clean.
My TB loved her lambskin one, but it was much harder to clean and very thick.
For either, a cat slicker brush is a great way to keep the fleece nice and fluffy.
 
I think the lambskin feels slightly softer, but I personally prefer the merino wool ones for three reasons:

No chance of seams where several pieces of skin have beek stitched together.
Easier to wash and care for.
More economical/humane use of the sheep as it is normally sheared.

I prefer the Premier Equine merino wool pads to nuumed as they're softer and look nicer with a good choice of colours.
