My little tb filly has gone very lame - and I can't even tell which leg she just looks sore all round! She's got no hot feet or legs, no visible cuts or anything. She's been out 24/7 since end of feb, same field and the grass hasn't exactly shot up, just a handful of chaff and some sugar beet - added a tiny handful of mix this week as she was starting to look a bit poor, ribs visible etc.
She's come in tonight as she was just lying down in the field looking uncomfortable, so I gave her a bit of bute in her dinner.
Any ideas?! If she's still that bad tomorrow we will get the vet out

I would call the out of hours and request a chat with a vet and let them decide just in case its something like grass sickness

Has she been charging about and maybe jarred herself, ground is hard just now with us. Could have done something to her back? Hope you find her sound as a pound tomorrow and it's just one of those things :)

That was my initial thought that she might have been hooning around but mum said she hadn't seen anything - she's not off her food or anything either :/

How was the vet visit? Could be abscesses in both feet or maybe lami? Hope vet has managed to make het comfortable

Vets been - raised pulses in both front legs, he had a look and found a toe abscess in the one :) he did initially think lami but she just doesn't have anything other than front foot pain. Poulticing day and night til it clears!

That's good news. :)

I would restrict her grazing anyway - but I'm paranoid about laminitis, so you are welcome to ignore me.

Thanks faracat :) she was the one I was least worried about and then this happens! She's got a lovely purple bandage on and I'll keep her in for a few days then keep an eye on the grazing :)
