My 2 year old is lame after the farrier fine in the feild, fine in the smooth surface barn but over the gravel footy no sign of a abscess no sign of bruising heels look very low should I get the vet or am I over reacting I have been giving Bute but not sure if I just have anxiety over him. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you resolve it he much prefers to be with his herd so don’t really want to keep him in thank in advance

If he’s fine in the field turn him out. There’s no need for him to be in away from the herd. He’s likely just footy, not ideal but no reason for box rest or massive worry. Personally I’d ring farrier not vet if still like this after 2/3 days.

Have you got photos of his feet? Maybe someone could advise on how they are looking and whether you should be looking for a new farrier.

Oh the heels are too low in my opinion won’t be using again they took too much off but too late now for him unfortunately I hope it doesn’t have a knock on effect for his future behaviour for the farrier as he usually stands like a gem thanks for advice I always second guess myself with him

I’d keep him in until he has grown more foot rather than bute and turn out. You don’t want him running around on compromised feet feeling fine because of the bute when his feet have been over trimmed.
I would do something like this or at least not let him charge around with the herd on what now must be very hard unforgiving ground.
