What is it with my mare?
Lame in the near hind. She fell in the field this morning (I didn't see her go down as she was too far away, she just disappeared from view for a second, reappeared, shook, then looked around all embarrassed), but seemed fine as she galloped the length of the field when she realised she was getting out of the rain. I went to turn her out this afternoon and realised she was dog lame

I called the vet (she capped her hock a few weeks ago and was told to leave well alone unless she went lame so I called them just in case) and she can't find anything obvious but advised a poultice in case it's an abscess (yes another one - she had a humdinger on her near fore last May), bute and box rest for a couple of days. She wouldn't eat her feed, just picked the carrots out, so had to use the treacle trick to get the bute down her. She was happy enough before the vet came, but looked a bit down in the dumps after being checked over, so I guess she'd been pulled about a bit.
Not serious enough for vibes yet, but fingers crossed please.
