been down the stables this morning and my mare, tag, is limping badly on her hind right leg. had a look but cannot see anythin to be causing this! she doesnt seem to want to put any weight on it. not sure if it because she has no shoes on the back so she could be foot sore, could this be possible? has any experienced anything like this?

OMG! Yes - get the vet ASAP

If there is a digital pulse it could be something like an abcess. But if your horse doesn't want to put weight on a limb you need to get the emergency vet out.

she is puttin a small amount of weight on but it seems to hurt too much to carry on doing it so sometimes swaps legs for a small amount of time. would the farrier be any good in this case?

Pick up her hoof & poke it hard & see if you can identify any hoof lameness - it could be an abcess, that's exactly how my horse was when she got an abcess about a month ago, again she's unshod behind.

Is there just soft swelling around the fetlock rather than her whole leg puffed up?

The farrier will be just as good as the vet if it is an abcess, but if you can't find the sore spot in the hoof then get the vet out.

Good luck, hope horsey's ok.

If I found a digital pulse and a tender part in the hoof once I'd had a poke around then I would either call my farrier or my vet.
My advice to get a vet out is purely based on the fact that the horse is clearly in distress if it is not bearing weight and I think that is far more pro-active than talking about it on a forum. But then that is just how I operate!

could the fact we went over a few jumps on sunday have anything to do with it since we havn't actually jumped for a while? is there a chance it could of pulled something?? as it came on, on monday? x

Monday?? Why have you waited, get someone (vet or farrier) to come out. In that much pain you don't want to wait, although it may be something simple like an abscess, you never know.
