Took Lil SJing yesterday and wasn't convinced that she was 100% when we unloaded her at home but there was no heat or swelling so didn't dwell on it.

Trotted her up today and she is definitely lame on a left circle on the lunge but barely noticeable on the right.

There's no digital pulse or cuts and scrapes etc.

Hoping she'll be okay in a few days but really dreading that it'll turn out to be her DDFT or collateral ligament :(

I'm really hoping its an abcess but theres no heat in the hoof and it seems like a bit of a coincidence that we went SJ yesterday :(

Could it just be a twist or a pull or something mild. I think cold hosing is a good start and monitor it closely.

This and poultice the hoof on the leg concerned. If its abscess, the poultice will draw the pus out and keep the hoof clean. If she isn't right in 5 - 7 days, contact the farrier to explore the abscess possibility. If possible try and get your hands on some hoof testers and keep checking for heat and a pulse. If the farrier disregards an abscess and she doesn't become sound for a further 3 - 5 days, I'd get the vet out.

Thanks all :D

She looked much, much better today 48 hours after she first looked sore.

Guess I might just have to get used to having a wimpy WB compared to my old cob who wouldn't have looked lame unless her leg was hanging off :D

could simply be concussion even if you were jumping on a surface. Horses favour one leg on landing so that may explain why it's only left.

She looks happy and sound today. Did a beautiful extended trot round the field when the farmer startled her with his tractor. How long would you give her off? Thinking of taking her for a gentle amble this afternoon and seeing how she goes.
