I went to do the horses yesterday morning and noticed that my usually lively mare was a bit quiet and did not rush over for her breakfast.
As she eventually walked over I noticed that she was walking a bit funny almost like she had cramp in her hip (off side hind), the more she walked the easier it appeared to get but not 100%.
I had a good feel round, no swelling, no heat, no marks or evidence that she may have been kicked (highly unlikely but you never know!). I checked her feet in case there was a stone stuck but all feet were clean. I had a good feel and she did not flinch at anything! She was reluctant to put all of her weight on the offside hind which is where the problem appears to be coming from.
I gave her muscles a bit of a rub and she enjoy this and even fell asleep!
My question is does anyone have any idea what this may be or what may have caused it? She is a bit better this morning but ceases up if she does not move for a while, so I am reluctant to leave her in.
Thanks
