Lame dog

I have to say mine have always been quick with investigations and referrals and when Moti had acute pain last year he had xrays next day painkillers immediately and junior vet said xrays clear likely sprain. Next day call from senior vet to see how he was. I said still very uncomfortable. Told to come in at end of surgery re examined xrays shown to me. Senior vet thought there was a narrowing of the spaces in the neck vertebrae. Referred to Fitzpatrick seen and CT done 4 days later. Had steroid injection to neck. Total time about 2 weeks or slightly over from initial visit to treatment so I did think your vet was a bit slow but maybe I was just lucky.

I had hoped the referrals being part of the same practice would make it quicker but maybe not, maybe they refer alot internally coz it's a money maker and then there's referrals from other local practices in the queue, orig vet put referral request in on a Friday but apparently that wasn't picked up till Monday, app 2 weeks later, I'd hoped for / assumed 4-5 days but maybe that was never realistic.

She's not sure what she makes of her stockings! Was an ordeal getting them on and unfortunately they have to come off to put the steroids on twice a day ( that's a struggle as you can't take the bottle near her so have to soak a cotton pad and dab her feet!). She is less lame in the last few days so definitely think the ouchy paws were adding to it. Hopefully if she stops chewing them for a few days they will stop hurting and then she won't want to lick them all the time.

How did she get out of that??? She had actually seemed pretty relaxed in them too 🤦‍♀️. In happier news she was much better about the steroids on her feet and put her stockings back on very easily so I guess her feet must feel better.

I'd worry about her hurting herself more by struggling to get out of the stockings.

Does she always stand 10-2 like that or is it just because of the leg coverings?
Just the stockings, she was standing much straighter in them later in the day, that was when I first put them on.

Well no more lameness and no peeing overnight since Sunday night. She was a little too bright on her walks yesterday and today, she actually put some effort into trying to chase a squirrel. Don't know if whatever the issue is has been resolved with rest or the pain meds are just working well now they have built up in her system.

Well after thinking her feet were getting better yesterday, today I took the stockings off and as soon as she could get to her paw she was licking it 😭 yesterday she was completely unbothered by it. Here's hoping they find an explanation on Tuesday morning.

If it’s a skin thing surely having them sweating in stockings will make them way itchier?
They are a breathable material, she doesn't chew at the stockings at all, I would think if she was itchy she would try to itch through them if that makes sense. She put them back on today with no hassle at all and is really settled wearing them, also it's only that 1 paw that she is obsessive over so maybe there is something they will find in it on Tuesday.

Turns out I'm a bad owner!! Had a really good check of her paw today as she wasn't obsessively licking as soon as the stockings came off and there's a big raw patch 😭. She's now back to the buster collar, it's cable tied shut and cable tied to her collar which is loosely tied to her harness so she should keep it on but she's looking miserable as soon as it went on. Going to phone vet now to see if I should put some silver healing cream on it or just continue with steroids.
