Hiya,

Holly has done something to her left front leg. We were playing fetch last night when she stopped and yelped.

She is a little bit lame on it today bit there is no swelling or heat and no reaction if I feel it or move it.

She doesn't want to play fetch so something is bothering her and we haven't been out for a walk since as I thought it would be best to rest it.

She will be going to the vets tomorrow if she is still lame but in the mean time is there anything I can do or give her to ease it?

Thanks
A xx

My dog did something similar a month or so ago, he yelped when he did it then kept whimpering if he had to lift it over something eg up a step. I took him to vets just to check and they said he had twisted it / sprained it. Metacam for a week and restricted walks......easier said than done, he demands his walks and its very hard to say no! Vet was right, took about a week to recover and is fine now. Hope your girl is better very soon.

She might just have tweaked something, (could even be neck, back, shoulder, it can present as lameness in the leg) while jumping up for her ball or gone over wrong on her leg, it can happen with ball crazy dogs, just keep her rested and I am sure the vet will put her on an anti-inflammatory. She sounds like a smart girlie so I am sure you can catch up with some training if she does need a longer rest period.
Hope all is well with you guys :)

She has probably tweaked something. Metacam is a great soother, but don't give her any tomorrow before you see the vet as it will mask the symptoms. Rest is the other great panacea - if you can get her to.....

Dex did the same thing Friday- wasnt walked properly until Monday (quick lead walks- just cant keep him in totally)- although i think he trod on something, as was licking the paw- and is absolutely fine now.
