I just wanted to say thank you to all those who replied to my post a few days ago.
an update:
My mare has been in the starvation paddock all this week and although she has not yet lost much weight, she is walking better I feel.
In fact as she knows her dinner is on the yard it's hard to stop her trotting over the stones now.
I am having slip bracket rails fitted to my stable and the door is being removed so I can stable her if I need to.
I didn't realise it was possible to get feeds for weight loss so I am looking into that tomorrow for her, as she is v hungry.
It took me ages to get her back into the starvation field as I was being pulled all along the grass verges this morning, it was all I could do to stand up let alone lead her,
as she thought it was xmas with the long grass.
I am able to ride her on grass so I will start to do that next week to help get the weight off.
anyway thanks to everyone and hopefully she will be right as rain soon.
