I have an 18 year old horse who i have owned for 2 years with no problems. 3 weeks ago he was shod by his regular farrier and was very lame after (this has never happened before). The farrier came back the same day and hoof tested him with no reaction. He re shod him in front and he was rested foe 3 days

Sorry continued, he has got better bit still lame on a circle, very shuffling gates, looks sore, i am very worried, could this be navicular ? Or just a bruised sole

He is quite fat, no pulse though, no heat in the foot, nothing up the leg, he was in regular work right up till the day he was shod.

If he hasn't improved significantly in three weeks I'd be getting the vet to come and have a look, nail bind/ too short/ brused sole I would expect to be markedly better by now.

My lad recently had something similar, he was only slightly lame and only one one rein but it was very obvious to me. One of his bars was growing inwards, into his sole. the vet said it would be like walking on stones and cut it all away. He's been fine (well, 2 weeks off in case it was something else) since.

Hi, thanks for your reply, he has got much much better because at first he was crippled lame and now he is absolutely fine in walk, but when you put him on a circle in trot he looks very sore, but not crippled lame, just sort of shuffling along and not right
