Lame horse update video

if you are asking which leg ...hard to see on video but looked lame on near fore to me although could be opposite hind. can sometimes be easier to tell on the lunge...

No no just getting opinions on her lameness really, it was near fore that was injured 6 1/2 weeks ago. We fannied around with different wrong, diagnosis from vets and now still not right so off for a proper work-up now.

Unsure. She was seen bouncing around her paddock some 30mins prior. Went to get her in and she was on 3 legs. First vet diagnosed pif, second vet diagnosed bruising. Farrier just thinks its bad shoeing (her feet were very bad) however still lame now after 6 weeks of rest.

It's def right fore, not hind, you can tell when she turns. SORRY LEFT FORE ;(
Could do with side view of her trotting but have you/vet considered suspensory sprain? They can take forever to heal and will be set back by turning out too soon. There isn't much to see but usually will show up with flexion tests.
When my gelding did his, all you could see were two small squashy bumps either side of his fetlock joint slightly behind of, if you drew a line centrally down side of the joint.

Clover was diagnosed with sidebones and some possible soft tissue damage. Vet has said 6weeks box rest and then we'll re-evaluate her. In the meantime she's to be shod with natural balance shoes with good heel support.

Sorry for the news.

Just so you know NB shoes are an attempt to mimic the benefits of a bare hoof's bio mechanics (they were invented by a farrier who observed wild hooves around the same time as 'barefoot guru' Jaime Jackson) and the 'good heel support' is also a nod to BF.

I know you're going to want to stick with your vet's recommendations.....but if we were maybe 20 years down the line, perhaps the vet would recommend BF instead...as this is what they are trying to mimic with this plan of action.

I agree with Oberon. IMHO, any arthritic changes are caused and accelerated by wearing steel shoes which cause concussion=arthritis. Many injuries to feet, legs and body originate from concussion - steel shoes. But you have to believe BF will work and be courageous enough to go against tradition and try it - for your horses benefit - many thouands of horses have - benefitted that is. Please think about it, your mare is already showing signs that steel shoes don't suit her.
How old is she?

Off the top off my head - I think they found 500Hz causes damage to tissues and they found shod hooves vibrate at 800Hz?

Some orthopaedic hoof research in Europe?
