Hey

Just wondering if any one could give me a idea as to what wrong with my horse!

He throw a spint 12 weeks ago now, cause by direct concussion. i had the vet out who said to give him 4 weeks off on rest. after these 4 weeks he was no better so vet came out again, and explained as he was such a big horse (17h) with little feet! give him another 4 weeks off and if he no better we bring him in for x-rays.

My horse went sound, so we turned him back out with the group after a few weeks, and have started to slowly bring him into work. we had to do a little bit of lunging just to keep him sane enough to get on, and noticed he was coming up slightly short with his left fore (side with spint) when being lunged on the right rein. not a lot short just when ur looking for it u can c it. he not lame on it at all.

Brought him in from the field this morning and he was very lame, noticable in walk. i had to go to work, and he had the farrior, so some one sorted him out with the farrior and said he looked better on it and was walking normally. im yet to trot him up.

Any one any ideas as to whats going on? could the spint be rubbing on some thing with in the leg which would make him appear short? and then as he been running around the field today, it made him lame again?

I dont know what to do for the best? should i get the vet back out or what?

sorry it so long thanks

17hh is a big lad to be using a dodgy leg. As it's now intermittent, I'd get x-rays done so you know what you're dealing with. He may just need more time but worst case scenario is that it could be something else that needs to be rested.
