My very chubby 3 year old gypsy cob is lame!

Symptoms:
Stiff in hind legs for 5 days, swollen on all 4 legs initially. 5 days later he is lame in near hind (swollen hock) rest of legs are going down or near normal now. But he is lame in walk. He also has an obvious pink bruise on his normally white hoof, the same near hind leg. No pulses around fetlocks, no laminitis stance....legs straight out in front. But he is lying down more.

My instincts told me initially when I saw puffy legs and stiffness that it was the sugars in the grass/diet....and so....I have changed his feeding regime and seen some improvements in his chubbyness in only 5 days, but his lameness (only on hind leg) is worse.

He is currently on restricted grazing and limited soaked hay, no hard feed just supplements (total eclipse by SS and biotin) in a handful of simple systems lucie stalks. He has become less "grass bellied" in the past week since I started bringing him in during the day and only turning him out overnight. Before that he was out almost 24/7 and was fed a handful of chaff and nuts with his supplements, plus adlib hay whenever he was in for a few hours.

I had let him continue to go out at night, but as things have got worse not better I have brought him in today and he is now on box rest until the vet sees him.

I have called the vet out, and they are coming first thing tomorrow. I am perplexed as to what it is, laminitis? (please god no!) poison foot, sprained hock? confused and desperate to see vet tomorrow to get some answers.....

Please does anyone have any ideas? Do you think I have done the right things? Please send hugs and positive thoughts as I am so gutted for my poor baby boy who has only just got over being beaten up in the field.
