Okay so my mare was fine in walk but very stiff in trot when I went to ride her last monday. So I jumped off and walked her home. No swelling but ever so slight heat in the hock. Kept her in for the day and turned her out next day and she hooned off sound as a pound.

Been fine all wekk but at the weekend the hunt was out and the three of them were tearing around.

Today got them in for farrier and she is very reluctant to bear weight on hind again. Farrier and I had a good look and again nothing to see no mud feaver scabs, no swelling and no heat of any great significance with other legs maybe a tiny bit in front of hock joint.

I have just looked out and she is lying down. She isn't one for lying down so I am really worried. Have called vet but waiting to hear back as out on visits.

So in the mean time would like to pick your brains. What on earth could it be ? No heat and no swelling yet very uncomfortable to the point of no wanting to bear weight and wanting to rest it when standing and now lying down.

Worried sick :(

It could be a number of things, hopefully something your vet will get to the bottom off when they check her over, she may off pulled something if she's been hooking around in the field, she may of slipped and done something to her back or pelvis area even.

Sounds like it needs looking at today though if she's going down more often to enable her to rest itif that's the case.

Fingers crossed for you.

Spoke to vet and wasn't overly keen on coming out so told me to keep a close eye on her which I did.

Today she looks much more relaxed and is comfortably grazing. Will try and walk her in hand tomorrrow and see if she will let me try and trot her up for a friend to look at her for me.

Blinkin horses :(

Next problem is flooded field shelter it never ends!!
