Lame in trot & Swollen leg

My loan horse has been lame in trot for a few weeks now. He is sound in walk but has a small swelling on his leg (Not sure if this has always been there or if its new as i have only had him a month) I gave him a week off thinking it would get better but it hasnt improved. The vet is coming out on tuesday but does anyone know what this could be?
 
There are quite a few lameness problems that only manifest themselves in trot - in sound the horse always seems much sounder. It coulc be anything, from a kick to a tendon, so I would leave him on box rest until the vet comes to be on the safe side. x
