Lame Mare Help

can anyone help my mare is lame in her near fore now she is grand in walk but showing in trot.
I have been told that there is possibly a bit of grit in her hoof farrier is with me on friday and then i can get her feet seen to. IS there anything i can do?
Would you ride yours? there is a touch of heat but nothing amazing.
Not sure what to do.
She is only 4.

Dont ride her but if she isnt lame at walk, take her for walks in hand as this often reduces swelling. Try to keep her on a grass verge so it is easier on her leg. And keep hosing!!

No riding, walks ok, hosing with COLD WATER! reducing swelling, helps keep inflammation down too
if you pick her foot up and put pressure with your thumb (holding the hoof up with ur fingers, press with your thumb on the sole) is she tender in any particular area on that foot?
If so, DEFINETLY get the vet in as it may be an abscess or thrush or something, if it is a bit of grit, then the vet will also be able to remove it before friday! and I am sure you want it sorted A.S.A.P!
 
I'd see about getting the farrier out earlier if poss. I know money shouldn't come into this but they are cheaper than the vet.

My farrier came straight out to me when I thought she had a abscess coming.
