My Horse has come in Lame on Tuesday, very lame at trot, Vet has been out and advised the usual 5day box rest with a stroll out for ten mins a day, with Bute, if no improvement he is coming back next week to x-ray and scan.

she has presented with very little swelling no heat to lower left fore leg on the inside, on flexion no pain has been found through the Tendons surrounding the pastern and up towards the knee, only pain that he could pinpoint was a very small spot just at the end of her splint bone.

my concern is her age, she is 19 this year and although fit and sound before this I a worried about how long and how well what ever it is will take to heal, weather it be bone or tendon.

luckily she is very easy to Manage and loves her stable and box rest shouldn't be an issue, but i was really hoping i could get at least another 2 years competing with her ( i could afford a field PUF and and another then) we only do local level stuff these days

need healing vibes as to what it could be

Did the vet test the hoof it could be an abcess?

If that seems unlikely if the horse is really lame I would want further investigations done now so I know what I am dealing with.

Thanks for the reply, she is lame in trot but is fine at walk, no pain in the hoof either
