lame on frount left

Someone called me letting me know my horse is lame in his front left hoof. He has slight heat in it, he has had for a very long time a slight lame stride in that foot that has been looked out by many vets , this has not really been. But its been a lot worse reacently I thought he was foot sore but its only ever on that one leg and I've had a lot of work on his feet which have improved. I'm planning on getting the vet but I need tofinish work, what do you think could cause lameness in the foot (he also has slightly flat pedal bones)

Could be anything. I think the vet is the only answer.

Unfortunately it is likely even the vet won't know until tests have been done
