Had a lesson today on Orkan - first time since he hurt his back a week or so after I bought him. Fantastic in walk... then pushed up to trot and lame as hell behind

Tried to push him through it in case it was stiffness after 3 weeks off and multiple back treatments but although it helped a little bit, he was still lame. Instructor felt his back and he dipped drastically in the right pelvic area so Jenny Hadland is being called tomorrow.

I just want to ride my new horse

He so enjoyed being ridden and practically tacked himself up.

Instructor said to ride him in walk long and low for 15 mins every day and perhaps lunge/long rein alternate days to ease the tightness. Would everyone agree?

Back to the wine and chocolate now.

oh god your not having much luck are you at the mo...these horses are set out to try us I swear it.

I hope you can get him back to health again, jenny is fantastic as you know...

I hope all works out for you both...guess in the light of things you are both building a bond together from doing all this work on him

Yes the upside is we are getting a lovely bond... what with the headshaking, weaving, back issues, lameness! On the plus side no weaving or headshaking now"

Did I mention I was moving yards at the weekend too due to some yard 'issues'

Roll on Sunday.

Im so sorry he has gone lame. I hope you get everything sorted and can go and have fun with him. Good luck with the move on sunday!! Ola is sending healing vibes for her daddy

Poor lad, and poor you. It's so frustrating sometimes isn't it?

Are you going to get the vet up to have a look at him? It may well be worth having his hocks looked at, or perhaps getting a general lameness workup done. So much back pain is as a result of limb problems (as I have found out with my own horse).

Thanks Ola! Hope she is doing ok at the moment.

Yes SS it is frustrating - thats horses eh.....

I think if after further back treatment there is no improvement I will certainly go down the vet route. In any case I think he may need sedation for a deeper back treatment so the vet will be out for that. He passed a vetting, flexion tests etc and was eventing in Sept so I'm hoping it wouldn't be hind leg problems...
