My horse has been a bit funny on one foreleg this weekend, like shes been a bit trippy but only the odd step. When I put her out tonight as she lives out, she was lame when walking in the mud. I brought her in she was the same on the mud and also turning round was tender. Shes about 2/10th lame on concrete but doesnt seem happy on it. Has she pulled something? I looked and couldnt feel any heat (both feet are the same warmth), no heat on the legs or cuts. So what could it be?

Im getting vet out tomoro but in the meantime anyone got any ideas? Also should she be left in 24/7? Im only just getting her COPD sorted. So its a dilemma whether to leave her in or turn her out in the morning.

Shes never been lame since Ive owned her.

Could be a pulled muscle, but just a guess really. My youngster pulled his muscle in shoulder slipped on rubber matting and front leg went out sidewards (like a half splits) he had box rest and gentle walking out in hand.

Good luck with vets tomorrow, Keep us up dated!!

In all lamnesses that have no obvious cause I always like to check foot first .Horses with a bruise sole or the start of an abcess will be more lame in mud than on concrete as the mud fills the foot and exerts more pressure also turning has the same effect.
Foot bruise or abcess in early stages often looks like shoulder lamness.
A post on here for earlier this week on odd hindleg lamness turned out to be bruised sole.
I would get the vet or farrier to check foot first with bruised sole and abcess often foot heat plays no part early on . Both my vet and farrier says this is abcess sort of weather !!!
Just my opinion
