trotted her up this morning and filmed on phone, diagnosed ddft 7 1/2 months ago. would like to know what you think of her trotting up. she has had no heat in the foot apart from when she had the shoes off and both front feet went very warm- now both cooled down at the same rate.

the video does seem a little 'juttery' (i dont know how else to describe it) on my computer, it is off my phone. so dont know if the video is a bit funny or my computer is just being slow.

thanks :)

She looks good. Always difficult to tell when trotting on an unlevel field however she looked sound for what I could see. So what are your plans now?

She looks fine, alittle short striding maybe, but I don't know your horse, she doesn't look lame, but be careful doing too much trotting on that really hard ground.

not looking too bad. stil not 100% imo. prehaps start her from square 1 with light work to work in her tendons {they may be abit short/tight?} also massages/hot/cold therapy? streaches ect. to me she looks like she could be trotting out abit more unless thats just *her* way of going?

yeah she has always been a bit short strided, shall work on this when i have moved to yard with menage (luckily found one with a bouncy but shallow surface- so good surface for her tendon!)

yes i havent been trotting on the ground, only for this video however she does like to take up rodeo style moments at least once a day in the field by herself... *cringe*

glad she looks sound to others, can't wait to see the ultrasound when she has one...

she has been started from square one pretty much, from 5 minutes walking in hand to an hour, then from 5 mins under saddle to 1/2 hour, then 15 mins walkin few strides trot etc, all very gradually. just have to strike the right balance which is very difficult as i want the tendon to heal with some elasticity and not like a block of wood that will snap again

plans now are to just continue with slow rehab, the vet says she should be in full work my september but i think i'll just start introducing a small cross pole by september if her ultrasound comes back fine- will have a menage this winter so can keep up her rehab throughout the winter. however she will never be ridden in intense work as obviously tendon will still be weak- so if she does come back jumping will be low and with plently of rest inbetween!
