Lameness Help Please

Aw thanks!

Yes indeed Mark said you would be using pads too, as they support the whole foot and stops further problems occurring? This has been rather a steep learning curve for moi

Hi Guys how are all you horses and problems today?
For your perusal please find some piccies from today... My hero farrier said I could post these photos on the condition that I give him a mention so many thanks Mark Olliver

Gel-i-fied foot (technically half foot, Mark wanted space for foot to breathe)

Right foot (Offside fore) with normal shoe on (Mark decided not to elevate the heel of this foot as the pedal bone lies correctly and he feared it would do more harm than good)

Left foot (nearside fore!) with wedge

Mark was whining about the amount of construction that had gone into making these shoes, they are 7" feet!!

Finding all this very interesting, my lovely event horse has been lame for 6wks, i have rested him where he started to improve, but isnt too good again now...

Had vet come and have a good look and thinks he has soft tissue damage caused by very long toe etc...

Have changed my farrier and am having him fitted with special oval shoes tomorrow, and lots of corrective farriery.

Im really hoping this is going to make a difference, up until this point he has always been as sound as a pound.

well i'm still bandaging feet with iodine now to harden them back up. was expecting him to be sore with no front shoes but was very sore in trot (fine in walk tho) so i dont know whats wrong

. he can't go back into the vets until he has shoes and we stil need to harden them up before shoeing. Really pleased that yours is doing well ali_m, they look very neat.

Hiya guys just looking for an update on your horses!! What is the latest news? Bentley seems more lame now than he has been for a few weeks!

I'm hoping it is short term pain for long term gain but it is worrying me slightly?! Any suggestions??

I have shoes!! Still got a lame horse but one with nice shiny heart bars now. He is maybe slightly better but nothing really so still a bit . Spoke to vet on fri as shoes fitted thurs since she is away for a week and decided i didnt want to do more blocks until he was used to the shoes and maybe settled something down. So that means we have to wait another week but i would kick myself if it would have settled down with time and not needed the now very probable pastern joint block.
