my 20 year old cob has cushings and has had a few bouts of laminits when first diagnosed 2 years ago. Now 4 weeks ago she came out of her stable stiff so went straight on box rest. A few days later she was really bad on one front leg (resting it and shifting weight from both front legs). danilon and sedalin was then given and the vet was called. She reacted to the pincers and xrays were taken. The xrays came back fine so kept on with high doses of danilon and sedalin.
Now i havent seen her for 9 days as i have just given birth so she has been in the care of my mum who has followed instructions to the letter. I have been up to see my horses today and had one hell of a shock. She was alot worse refusing to move then she layed down and just wouldnt get up (not colic).
My mum then told me she had had the vet back out two days ago (she didnt want to tell me as she didnt want to worry me)and she had not reacted to pincers, no heat, or digital pulse.
She has been off her feed but managed to get the danilon down her tonight
has anyone had any experiences of why she would have gotten worse but the signs of lami are getting better?

What did the vet say when they came 2 days ago? Really sorry to say this but you need an honest opinion from him/her as to the reality of your horse coming sound. It doesnt sound so good to me and I do think you have to consider the quality of life for your horse, painful as it is. I know how it is to lose a horse, my mare died of a broken leg in the field 5yrs ago.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby, your emotions and hormones will be all over the place at the moment. Thinking of you.
