Hi everyone,

I have just joined the forum and would like some advice please. I have a tb who keeps going lame on his front right, the ground on our yard is very stony and thats where he seems to struggle. I rode him in the arena and he was fine until i asked for trot then he seemed to just be very unbalanced. I decided to play with him and ran around the arena away from him and he trotted after me. I was able to observe him in trot and he was fine. I was wondering if it was just soft soles and to put some keratex hoof hardener on. Any ideas appreciated x

If it was due to soft soles he would be lame on both feet not just the one. I would suggest asking your vet or possibly your farrier for advice but if he is lame it needs something doing and should not be exercised.

Thankyou, thinking about it this has been happening when he has been shod so i think a call to the farrier is in order. It is funny how he is sound on soft ground. he is probably being a drama queen, he is a real wuss lol

Personally I would get a vet out to do a lameness workout. That way they can nerve block and isolate the sore bit and you can take it from there. Never assume anything.
