My horse has been going lame whilst leading out to our field (the path is stoney) he goes lame for a couple of strides then is okay after that. He has long toes anyway could this be the start of navicular???

His feet are due to be shod in a couple of weeks so I will ask my farrier then but just wanted to know. He does have sensitive feet when walking over stones anyway.

My TBx always looked like a cripple if he had to walk over stones. He had really sensitive feet and was like this even when shod all round with bar-shoes on front. I wouldn't worry, sounds like he's just feeling the stones, most horses will.

Long toes would concern me. His sensitivity to stones wouldn't. A lot of horses hop around on stoney surfaces due to sensitive feet. i would definately get his long toes sorted though as this can cause biomenchanical problems which may lead to any number of problems
