Our pony Lady has not been right for about eight months now and we’re still going round in circles, literally, trying to get to the bottom of it. She keeps going intermittently lame and is currently only showing lame on left lead canter. She’s had bone scans, X-rays MRI the works but nothing really significant is showing up other than arthritic changes in her hocks which we’ve had injected and has shown improvement behind. The problem now appears to be in her left foreleg but it doesn’t show in trot, only canter, any ideas, suggestions as to how to progress with any diagnosis would be much appreciated, as we are tearing our hair out with it all now desperately trying to get to the root of the problem. ?

Hi , no the vets said she needed to be more obviously lame so we were asked to keep working her , but this just feels wrong ????

Confused as you said the lameness shows in canter. So they should be blocking that leg, and doing an assessment with each block to pinpoint the area. We had to do this with my horse to find a ligament injury, though his symptom was disuniting over jumps on one rein.

Yes, at the time she was only intermittently lame in trot, so we have kept working her but the lameness now only shows in canter, thought they needed to see it in trot? Am speaking to the vets today to see if they can nerve block to assess her. Thank you.

The horse needs diagnostic ultrasound of its hind suspensories and blocks of the fore leg starting at the bottom and working up .
Whats been done to look for soft tissue injuries ?
