Lameness whilst trotting

New to all this so please bare with me.
Nearly 5 weeks ago i was out hacking in the woods for a few hours, on our way home Piglet slipped (enough to make me scream), he was fine the last mile home, but two days later whilst out on a hack he was nodding while trotting.
After getting him home and inspecting his left foreleg there was and still isn't any heat or swelling in the leg.
I have had the farrier round to inspect the foot (which he found nothing) and have had piglet on rest for the last month.
It's only this week after a few short, only walking hacks that he is still nodding his head in trot.
He is fine striding out walking, and is always asking to do more (not that i let him, or try not too) he doesn't appear to be in any pain, ears pricked, begging to trot.
I'm asking a horsey friend who has had horses for 30 years plus to come have a look before i call the vet.
Just wondered if anyone else has any information or know what it might be?

For a start, I would have had the vet out about a month ago! A slip, followed by lameness, probably points to tendon or ligament - and you wouldn't necessarily find heat or swelling. If horse is no better after 5 weeks off, there is something wrong, and you need a vet, not a mate to diagnose and treat

The horse is lame over a month. No matter how experienced your horsy friend you need a trained eye ie the vet.

My gelding slipped on the road a couple of weeks ago. His back leg just went from under him, very undramatic.
He has damaged his tendon sheath, slight swelling, 3/10 lame (barely), joint injection & box rest. You must get a decent vet to have a look, these things sometimes don't just sort themselves out in the field and it needs a proper diagnosis.
